He lost footing and the current spun him into deeper flow.

Dragged downstream

Hold and follow the eddies to guide him toward a calm pocket and up the bank.

Swept into a shallow but fast creek at a crossing.

At the crossing, Hoshi slipped and the creek took him. He fought for stones the current kept stealing away.
